Past President & Garden Recognition Chair
I’ve lived in Edmonds for 30 years and LOVE my city…and gardening. I’ve volunteered overseas in garden restoration, and I wanted a chance to be involved in my home town. Edmonds in Bloom has been a fun way to give back to my community.

I have lived in Edmonds for 20 years, along with our small-town community feel, I love the daily beauty of the Sound, Olympic Mountains, forests and the many lovely gardens. I tell my artist friend that my garden is my canvas. We have so many beautiful garden canvas’ in Edmonds which I have enjoyed being part of showing them off at our art gallery, called the EIB Garden Tour.

Communications Chair
Ten years ago, I made the move from Lynnwood to Edmonds, and one of the first things that caught my eye was the abundance of Edmonds in Bloom Recognition signs adorning yards and local businesses. It was impossible to overlook the stunning flower baskets lining the streets and the vibrant blooms brightening every corner of downtown. My curiosity was immediately piqued—who was behind all this beauty? As someone with a deep passion for gardening, I felt drawn to get involved and soon began volunteering with the Garden Tour and Garden Recognition programs. However, it didn’t take long for me to realize that Edmonds in Bloom was about so much more than just flowers; it was about fostering community pride, inspiring creativity, and bringing people together through the love of gardening. Now, as a Board member and the Marketing and Communications Chair, I have the privilege of sharing the incredible work that Edmonds in Bloom does to enhance and uplift our community. From beautification projects to youth gardening programs, special events, and partnerships with local businesses, this organization continues to make a lasting impact. I’m honored to be a part of it and excited to spread the word about the many ways Edmonds in Bloom helps make our city bloom—both literally and figuratively!

As an avid gardener and Edmonds native, I just love how the streets come to life every Spring. I always look forward to the Garden Tour to see the variety of amazing gardens, both large and small, hidden throughout our city. Not only is it a great opportunity to see a wide variety of plants and flowers, I even got to meet Ciscoe Morris at Edmonds Hardware last year!

I have lived in Edmonds for 25+ years and have always loved the charm and beauty of Edmonds. The Edmonds in Bloom group does so much for the community it reminds me of an Audrey Hepburn quote, "To plant a garden is to dream of tomorrow". I look forward to the many tomorrows to work with this wonderful organization in creating, enhancing, and sharing the beauty of Edmonds .

I was born and raised in Edmonds and returned home 6 years ago. I grew up gardening with my parents and have recently participated in the garden tour. Gardens create beauty and refuge for all. I am thrilled to be associated with such a great group of garden and people lovers.

School Grants Chair
I was born and raised nearby in Shoreline and my husband and I built our home in Edmonds in 2007.  My mom is a master gardener and all my sisters and I are constantly exchanging plants and going to plant sales and always touring each other's gardens.  Edmonds in Bloom was an organization that I wanted to become involved in.  I’ve helped with garden recognition as well as helping a host during the garden tour.  As an elementary school teacher and leader of my garden club at Meadowdale Elementary, I know the value of grants in schools, and would love to help you with your school garden project as the chair of Edmonds in Blooms school garden grants!
Mardee

Mardee Austin

Vice President & Garden Celebration Chair
After moving from Magnolia to Edmonds in 2021, Mardee and her husband, Darren, were delighted to discover that their new home was the oldest standing house in town and had once belonged to Mrs. Anna V. Bassett. Mardee and Darren have (mostly) enjoyed restoring not only the Bassett House on Main Street but also its lovely Victorian garden. Mardee has taken a particular interest in learning that she and Anna not only shared the same home but also a passion for voluntarism—making them kindred spirits. Anna Bassett is still recognized for serving as the founding president of Edmonds’ first garden club, as well as for her early contributions in music, art, culture, and even politics—areas that helped shape the fabric of Edmonds. A dynamic leader with 25+ years of nonprofit and board experience (Zeta Tau Alpha, Junior League of Seattle, Magnolia Chamber of Commerce, Forgotten Children's Fund), Mardee excels at event planning, strategic development, and organizational transformation. She's thrilled to bloom in Edmonds! Though her wanderlust is strong, her rescue pup, Ellie, and those pesky garden weeds always draw her back to this seaside haven. Love event planning and Edmonds in Bloom's mission for uniting our community through floral beautification? Connect with Mardee (gardenparty@edmondsinbloom.org) to volunteer for BloomFest!

Daisy and Petal

Edmonds in Bloom Mascots
Edmonds in Bloom’s charming flower garden mascots, Daisy and Petal, bring a delightful touch of whimsy to the community’s love for gardening. Daisy, a cheerful girl with a radiant sunflower hat and a watering can in hand, represents the nurturing spirit of gardeners who bring beauty to Edmonds. Petal, her playful companion, sports a leafy green cap and a satchel filled with seeds, ready to spread joy and blossoms wherever he goes. Together, Daisy and Petal inspire young and old alike to appreciate nature, plant flowers, and celebrate the vibrant blooms that make Edmonds a more colorful and welcoming place.
