🌱 Deep Roots, Fresh Growth: The Northwest Garden & Stone Journey

Northwest Garden and Stone is the product of two passionate plant and landscape veterans joining forces to create something fresh, local, and meaningful in Edmonds. Their mission is simple: offer high-quality, unique plants, stone, and home goods with personality and soul—curated with care.

The idea for Northwest Garden and Stone grew from the long-standing success of our parent company, Northwest Landscape Supply, located nearby and owned by Gary Musket. That location has long served homeowners and landscapers with bulk compost, soil, and rock—essentials for any outdoor project. But for years, a broader vision was simmering: Gary, a seasoned expert in dirt with deep family roots in the trade, wanted to add something more—a garden and home store where plants, gifts, and decor could come together in a uniquely Northwest way.

That vision started to take shape when Gary met Matt Porter, a lifelong gardener who got his start under the influence of his grandparents and mother. Matt’s passion blossomed into a career when he began working at Roger’s Gardens in Newport Beach, California—an iconic garden center where he spent a decade honing his craft. After relocating to Edmonds, Matt became the longtime general manager of Molbak’s Garden + Home, where he helped shape the region’s garden retail scene for 20 years.

When Molbak’s closed, fate stepped in. Matt and Gary met at an auction of the store’s assets, and from that unexpected connection, Northwest Garden and Stone started to take shape.

They also brought on Brynn Booth, formerly of Molbak’s, who quickly became the backbone of the operation. She keeps Matt’s creative vision and Gary’s hands-on expertise running smoothly behind the scenes. Brynn also leads all social media and marketing efforts, and curates the indoor plants, home décor, and gift merchandise with exceptional style and attention to detail.

Together, Gary, Matt, and Brynn are building more than just a store—they’re creating a destination for gardeners, homeowners, and gift seekers alike. With a focus on plants with personality, thoughtfully selected home goods, and items created by real people (often local artisans), Northwest Garden and Stone brings a fresh energy to Edmonds and the greater Puget Sound.
